My sewing mojo has gone awol and been replaced by hayfever - despite the really atrocious weather!
So in the hope of a cure, I played with my stash. It's got a bit out of hand in recent months, because I ran out of space in the two boxes I use - yes, just two boxes. So I bought another box, but never got round to getting it all out and seeing exactly what I had all in one place. Here it is
Yep. That's it. It's quite tiny really (though I was sure to put it away again before Michael came home). I really do NOT need any more greens, but the purple and yellow piles were somewhat tiny.
Of course, there was a purpose. I needed to pull some fabric for a couple of baby quilts. Turns out that 2012 is the year of the baby boy in our circle of family and friends. My sister-in-law's sister had a baby - Ethan - back at the start of June. I have a Winnie the Pooh birth sampler started for him. My best friend and chief Bridesmaid from our wedding had a little boy in mid June - Noah Johannes - I finished his quilt last week. A week later, one of Michael's work colleagues' wife gave birth to Joshua Ethan - he weighed in at over 12lb!. And in October really good friends are expecting a little boy.
I finally settled on the churn dash block for baby Joshua. Here's the plan:
Luckily I quilt better than I colour in! Here are the fabrics: I've had to subsitute a line of blue for an extra line of green, because I didn't quite have the blues I wanted:
There's some Tilda, Lecien, Flea Martket Fancy, Aneela Hooley and Pearl Bracelets in there, with quite a lot of random stuff too!
And for the October baby, I've decided on a mini Farmer's Wife quilt. The colour scheme they have chosen is green, so I pulled a range of greens from my stash (I have plenty to chose from). I'll combine them with white and make 35 blocks from the 111 in the book.
I have made a small amount of progress on sashing the full Farmer's Wife. But sashing really isn'tmy favourite part, especially on a quilt this size, so it's not helpling me find my mojo. New project always help!!!
It's the weekend. It is a very special little boy's third birthday tomorrow - pirate themed - happy birthday Aiden! Hopefully I will have something to show come Sunday!

It is funny to pull out your stash to see what colours you're lacking in! =D
Yes, I think you really do need more purple :)
And happy birthday to the little pirate!
