Finish Along [quarter 3 goals]

Well - I'd better put some plans down before the end of the week. What would I like to achieve between now and the end of September? The answer to that question is very different to the answer of the question "what could I actually achieve between now and the end of September?" In the spirit of quarter 2, which was quite successful, I'm simply going to list everything, along with a couple of goals which won't eligible for prizes, but accountability is a good thing. I would love to finally finish my hexie table runner. This was my go to project on holiday in Sidmouth last year and it is nearly Sidmouth-time again - 20 days (not that I'm counting). I need to baste, quilt and bind. Easy. My Rhubarb and Custard Quilt didn't quite make it in quarter 2. Maybe this time round..... Neon Stained: I now plan to quilt each square individually with a different free motion design (within reason) - that does mean this will not be a quick finish, but it wi

Catching up [bees]

In June I got a little bit behind on my bee blocks.... First up this week was the first month in the Siblings Together Bee (2) - we're 12 ladies from the UK aiming to make 12 quilts to donate to Siblings Together next year. You can read much more information about Siblings Together here . Last year I donated a quilt, but this year I just didn't have time, and a bee sounded like a perfect solution for next year. This was my first ever attempt at wonky stars. I've never been fond of them, but wow - these are so quick and easy to make and I think I really like them. All of the fabric in this block (apart from the white) is from my scrap bins! With more thought I might have made my stars a bit bigger.... And then in Stash Bee we were making Great Granny Squares - I made two blocks ad these were also great fun to make. The background fabric is Kona Butter, which is such a beautiful colour I am already adding more to my stash! And I'm not sure if I've

Finish Along Quarter 2 [summary and a final finish]

Sneaking under the wire I have a final finish to share with you today! Do you remember Steph's quilt - the one I wasn't enjoying (well - one of the two I wasn't enjoying) and which kept appearing on my list at the start of each quarter? Yesterday I finished it!!! This is a 21st birthday present for my sister-in-law. She will be 23 in October. All of the fabrics are batiks and were bought at the Harrogate quilt show just a month before her 21st birthday, so there was never any way it was going to be finished on time! Except for the sashing fabric, which might even be a Moda batik, but I'm not sure. As always I overbought by about half a meter of each fabric.... By the end of last quarter I had finished piecing the quilt top, and Mum had helped me baste it. It took me another few weeks to get round to quilting it. I even trimmed it. And then it sat on top of the pile, being ignored. I had planned to add another border to the quilt top made up of all of the differe

Summer has finally arrived [July Block]

Today we hit 27 degrees. Now that may not sound much to those of you who live in anywhere but the UK, but for us that is hot, and tomorrow is due to be even hotter. On the down-side, the pollen count was equally high.... but between sneezes, I have completed my July block for you! I love orange. My fabrics are Architextures, Nature Elements, Comma, Oval Elements, Floral Elements andsome Kona Solids. You can find the instructions for the embroidery here , and the embroidery pattern here . And the instructions for piecing the blocks are here and the applique is here . You can find more information on preparing your embroidery here . As always, I would love to see anything you make using this pattern. There is a Flickr group as well! If you have any questions, just let me know! Happy Summer!

June

Half way through the year - it's hard to believe really! So what have I achieved this month? I finished the challenge quilt! Challenge because my Mum reckoned I couldn't make a double bed quilt in the time allowed! But I did, and I'm really pleased with how it turned out! I fell in love with the Tula Pink City Sampler : but I'm behind - I've only made 9 blocks. I did make the latest Lucky Stars block, but April still waits patiently I got in on the Zakka Along action and made some Pepper Coasters . I didn't get any further and I believe my book may have been borrowed..... And I finished two baby quilts : a cross quilt for Ellie-Jo, my beautiful little niece.... .....and this one, which I've called Murmurations, for a work colleague. I am horrifically behind on bee blocks - if you're reading this and expecting one from me, then I promise I'll get back on track this week! And we lost a tree ! (not as careless as it s
