I finally picked a colour scheme today for Block of the Month number 3:
This is a ten fat quarter bundle of Candid Paparazzi by Red Rooster fabrics, which I won in December 211. I've been looking for the right project and the Gen X Sisters' BOM seemed the perfect fit. I'm combining it with Kona White. In hindsight, Kona Snow may have been a slightly better match, but I'm already using Kona Snow
And today I made two blocks from the January pattern, Grandmother's Frame.
I also settled on a background fabric for the Skill Builder BOM. It's Kona Coal - and I've risked odering from two different online shops to get the necessary 6 meters! Although I'm stash shopping for all of my BOMs this year, I'm having to buy the background fabrics, and it's getting a bit pricey over here... I had auditioned some of the larger pieces of fabric in my stash (of which I have about 3), and chosen a nice brown, but when I measured it, I only had four meters, and there's none left at my LQS.
I'm justifying it all because these BOMs will keep me occupied all year - I also have a few other quilts in the works (including Dear Jane - more background fabric) which are fiddly enough that I won't be finishing them quickly either - I'm looking forward to lots of piecing after so much quilting just before Christmas!
Just thought I'd post this one again - my second Dear Jane block! |
The problem is that I give into temptation easily. It's only 6th January, so the chance of more juicy QALs and BOMs popping up this year is quite high. Don't expect this to be the end of my Startitis!
