May is my month to be Queen Bee in the Get Your Hex On Bee! I'm going to show you the swap hoop I made at the end of last year again.
Because this is my inspiration!
All of my bee mates have received (or will soon because I was rather late getting to the post office...) a package of 40 3"x 3" squares of different black fabrics, and a pinch of 1/4" hexie papers and no idea what I would like them to do! You've also all got a letter where I've given you the hexie size I would like you to use - either 1" hexies, 3/4" hexies or 1/2" hexies, based on what you said you had to hand.
Please could you make one hexie per black square and join them together to create a sewing machine!
You could either use the photo above, which is my version using 1" hexies, or this pdf diagram.
Then there are those little itsy bitsy 1/4" papers. Please could you use bright and colourful scraps you have lying around - and you really only need scraps - and make me a little tiny hexie flower? If you really find this too fiddly then not to worry! But please have a try as I found them so much more fun than I expected! You can find some tips here.
My eventual plan is to make some kind of scrappy quilt - possibly a Scrappy Trip Around the World and then applique these silhouettes onto it! But I haven't got that far yet. Once you are done stitching, if you don't want to leave the papers in, please press and press and if necessary lightly starch.
And because I haven't got that far yet, and because I was late sending these out, there is no rush to get them back to me by the end of the month. I can't wait to see all of my sewing machines!
