Finally!
The hedgerows are starting to turn green and this weekend is the Berwick Classic Car Rally - and that means spring is here. For only the second time I'm actually competing in the rally rather than marshalling for the rally. I'm navigating for my Dad in a 1960s Austin Healey Sprite. My Uncle-in-Law and cousin in law will be in a 1975 MGB. My husband and his friend will be in the ultimate classic - a 1998 Corsa! We're heading off this afternoon so I'd better share the May block in my Thread Along this morning.
This was the block I started with when deciding on colour placement. May had to be bright spring green - which also happens to be my favourite and I've managed to include some of my current favourite fabrics: three different prints from Architextures, a Painters Canvas that matches them beautifully, my favourite green from my Neon Stained quilt, of which I have just a smidge left and I am eeking out every last piece because I have no idea what it is; and of course - some Art Gallery Floral Elements!
The embroidery is centered around a branch of fresh leaves and blossom - this is spring! An optimistic sun to go with it! The music symbols are to represent a couple of musical events including the height of the musical calendar in Europe, the Eurovision Song Contest....
You can find the embroidery design here, and the information on how I embroidered it and why I chose the motifs here.
The instructions for the pieced sections are the same as for February, and you can see the information for that here.
All of the links for all of the blocks can be found here.
As always, if you have any questions, just met me know, and if you do make you own version of any part of these monthly blocks, I would love to see them in the Flickr group!
Happy Bank Holiday Weekend!
