This years seems to be very busy - lots of babies due and quite a few weddings! The problem is that the weddings so far are my husband's work colleagues' and I have met the bride and groom only a couple of times. And that makes it really hard to make something for them.
The brief for the first bride and groom (who got married back in March) was blues and greens. Well... I got blue. Blue-y-green. And purple. But there was purple at the wedding.... this evening I've finally finished piecing four place mats using four of the patterns from Don't Call Me Betsy's Lucky Stars BOM.
I'm not 100% sure. I may need to trim the top a little bit.... And I'm hoping that "straight" line quilting will mean the seam lines are less obvious.
The fabrics are all Art Gallery: Oval Elements, Floral Elements and Pure Elements. Hopefully they will be finished in time for the next wedding, because they will be guests.
Here's the plan for the next set of place mats. Hopefully there will be six of them when finished... so they can fit together to form a hexagon. This wedding is in two weeks time.
It is quite possible that I am being over ambitious. There are two other quilt tops I want finished by the end of the month. On Saturday I'm starting one of the many baby quilts for the year as a class at out LQS (in the beautiful Indian Summer from Art Gallery). And just today I finally received my Tula Pink City Sampler book - it's gorgeous. But I must not start it for a few months....
