This year is flying by. I can't believe it's already September - downhill till Christmas now...nights are drawing in... all those sayings that annoy people! In my denial that Autumn was coming, I forgot to post this review yesterday. Forgot to write it even! So how was August?
My block drive continues! 60 blocks for August, 24 of those are from the #365QuiltChallenge quilt. I'm now about a month behind which feels good, and looking at the August blocks that I haven't yet made, they appear a bit simpler so by the end of September there is a small chance I might, might be up to date again. Maybe.
|
My mission for September is to do a better job of photographing my finished blocks. |
Thirty-two of the remaining blocks are from a few new projects.
I've mentioned the #100days100blocks sew along using the City Sampler block. I'm making three different quilts as part of this project, and so far so good - on track and up to date!
|
You may see more of this blocks in the near future! |
I only had two finishes in August, both quite small: the first was
a cushion of Yoda for a seven year old. And in making it, I also received a Christmas order from an eight-year-old!
The second finish was a scrappy one: my Induction Mini - read about the slightly odd name
here.
The final blocks were from the Splendid Sampler, an EPP block and finally, the next finished block in the
Collection Quilt.
Last weekend was a fantastic weekend for my home town: Blyth played host to the Tall Ships Regatta: the port was full, the town was full, and when they sailed on the Monday, the beach was full. We had an amazing weekend with lots of family. Here are some select shots!
|
We had lunch on one of the tall ships and it was stunning. I saw parts of Blyth I haven't seen before and even the weather behaved. |
|
Mia's been on the beach before, but this was the first time with her cousins and buckets and spades: she had a ball! Especially, having buried her cousin as shown above, helping her Daddy tip water down his back! Yes, we are that cruel. |
And of course, August means Sidmouth! We had a fabulous few weeks on holiday - I won't bore you with the details again, but if you haven't seen lots of pictures of my daughters recently, there's a few on
the holiday post. And speaking of my daughters: Jess is now 4 months old. I tried to take a photo of her and Mia both smiling today - in my dreams: if one was smiling, the other was not. The only time they were both doing the same thing was this photo - with their tongues out!
And I just had to share these pictures too:
|
She had chocolate ice cream. She stole my ice-lolly! |
|
Jessica's achievement of the month was rolling: back to tummy and tummy to back. No stopping her now! |
OK, September. I'm ready for you!
