WIP Wednesday [the one without much progress]

I can't even think of much to write. I'm not really feeling inspired to do anything at all really.....

I finished the hexagons for this month in the Get Your Hex On Bee - I love these fabrics and I've used them a few times in my own projects - it was so relaxing to put these together.

I basted a few more hexies too - still a few to go!

And I've made another two blocks of the City Sampler: Block #8: Square Sets: the name comes from ceilidh dancing where couples form square sets. On Saturday night we went to a ceilidh back home with my parents. My Dad plays in the ceilidh band (and I use to) and it was a great night, catching up with lots of old friends and making some new ones! The fabrics are Snow Queen (from Northcott), Kona Periwinkle and Natural Elements from Art Gallery.

And Block #9 Coproliters. This is the name of the band. Where I come from in Bedfordshire is an area rich in Coprolite - a mineral mined at the turn of the last century because it was a rich fertiliser. The men who mined it were known as ccoproliters. Coprolite is fossilised dinosaur dung!!!! The fabrics are Alchemy (Blend fabrics) and Flirt (Moda).

Block #7 is missing. I am really struggling picking fabrics for it..... so it will have to wait.

I'm linking up with Work In Progress Wednesday and heading over there in hope of some inspiration!

All the Little Finishes

I've had a few recent finishes - mostly smaller pieces and mostly not on my list to finish this year (because I've only just started them!) - lots and lots of pouches! Here's a round up... Three pouches I made for the kids for our holiday - all are the Seamingly Sane Pouch pattern, but I used the pattern add-on to adjust the sizes and customised with some straps and in one case, a pocket. These three pouches are made for our work Yubikeys when we travel to protect them - it's a slightly adjusted Aneela Hooey pattern - the peas are an inside joke! I knew I had pea fabric for a reason! A couple more Seamingly Sane pouches - the smaller one was a birthday present for my Dad, and the floral one was for me to protect my diary when I travel. Seven pouches made entirely from my scraps to hold EPP pieces pre sewing! This is the Peekapouch pattern by Sweet Cinnamon Roses. This is the Not So Little Zippy Pouch by Fabric and Flowers. The pattern is a bit of a challenge, but this ...

365 Quilt Challenge 2016 [A finish]

I can't believe I've just typed that heading! When I made the block for January 1st 2016 I could not have imagined the journey this quilt would have taken me on. So make yourselves comfortable and grab a cup of tea, because this blog post may get lengthy! I'd seen the 365 Quilt Challenge on Facebook. I think every quilter on Facebook must have been aware of it. Loads of my friends had signed up and it kept popping up as a "Page you might like" thing. In the end, in November 2015, I joined the group, had a poke round. Decided it wasn't for me. One of the things that really put me off were the fabric requirements: you needed x amount of dark dark fabric, x amount of medium dark fabric, x amount of dark medium, medium, light medium, light, background.... I just couldn't get my head round those requirements. I'd looked at the mock ups on the wesbite and couldn't bring myself to pick a colour. I put it to the back of my mind. But I had obvious...

Blogger's Quilt Festival: Autumn 2012

This weekend it's the Blogger's Quilt Festival over at Amy's Creative Side Since the last festival I have finished loads of quilts which I could enter, but I'm sure anyone who follows my blog will have guessed which quilt I'm entering.....and will probably be fed up of seeing it by now :) The Farmer's Wife Quilt - here's the story and lots of photos! In June 2011 some of my favourite bloggers joined the Farmer's Wife QAL on Flickr and I got sucked in! I had just learnt how to foundation piece, so I also joined the Yahoo group and "borrowed" my parents printer to print off all of the foundation patterns. I hate templates, and there were some blocks that would have been impossible to rotary cut - including some of my favourites! Peaceful Hours; Spiders Web; Jackknife Century of Progress; Night and Day; Wood Lily I had been looking for an excuse to buy use batik fabrics. I just had to decide on black. Or white. I change my mind a...
