It feels like I've been doing a lot of binding this week.... I have four table runners nearly ready to share with you, I finished the baby quilt which I couldn't give away and today I have another finish!
Earlier this year I made the quilt top as part of a class at our Local Quilt Shop. The fabric was all die-cut and I pieced the whole thing in a day! The fabrics are all Art Gallery - I think this may be my first finished quilt which is 100% Art Gallery (even though most of my quilts contain a little bit...) - and it feels so soft with the cotton wadding. Four of the fabrics are from the Indian Summer range and then I added Pure Elements in Lemonade and White Linen.
And then of course, the quilt top sat for a while. And then it sat for a bit longer. Until I heard that yet another friend was expecting.... so that gave me a deadline (which is fast approaching). I finally basted it a few weeks ago and decided this morning was free motion quilting morning. My machine had other ideas. After the thread had snapped six times in quick succession, I had cleaned the machine, replaced the needle, replaced the needle again, turned the machine off, eaten chocolate.... I gave up and unpicked what I had achieved - it didn't take long.
I replaced the FMQ foot with the walking foot and looked for inspiration. I chose to focus on the secondary pattern created when the blocks are joined together. And I really like it! It's different to my normal FMQ stipple and really makes the stars pop.
The whole quilt is only about 41" x 41" so fits on the width of the fabric for backing, so I picked my favourite Indian Summer print - the big bubble/circle one and then bound it in the dark teal print to frame it.
This is another tick on the Finish Along List for Q4!

This is the best photo I could get to show the quilting |
