March is over, April is here and the hedges are starting to turn green - there are daffodils everywhere in our neck of the woods.
Despite having a tiny baby in the house, March did involve some sewing... Nap times are golden!
I finished a quilt! My entry for the Pantone quilt challenge (if you haven't already, take a look at some of the other entries - amazing quilts). To be fair, the quilt was fully pieced before Madam arrived, so I just basted and did a little quilting and the binding to get this finished!
I made the first four blocks in the Vice Versa BOM - this will be a hangover blankie for my Husband and we pulled the fabrics back in December. I then decided I didn't like them and they weren't very masculine, so ordered the equivalent Kona solids. I ordered on a Monday morning from Village Haberdashery and M is for Make (neither of the stores had all the colours I needed) and both packages arrived on the Tuesday morning - Mia was asleep, so I got cutting!
I had a few hours on a Saturday morning and managed to cut and piece three Farmer's Wife blocks - none of them particularly complex, but it felt good to keep up with a few blocks a month.
The rest of the month was all about hand piecing: I made up the first three blocks for my Patchwork of the Crosses quilt (block 4 is basted).
I finally made the last block in the Get your Hex On Bee (I haven't photographed it yet....). I've decided that once my current bee commitments are complete I'm going to take a break. I was way behind in sending the hexie blocks back to the Queen's and I'm behind in the Siblings Together Bee too, so it's not fair to commit to more and then fail to meet those commitments, plus with considerably less sewing time, I want to concentrate on the quilts I've started (or plan to start) for me and my family.
I also started an embroidery project - the Best Friends Forever BOM by Rosalie Quinlan - the first block is finished - there are many more to go but I really enjoyed getting back to embroidery.
And no blog post is complete at the moment without a picture of my Little girl who is now 5 weeks old! How time flies.
