Finish Along Quarter 3

Well, it has certainly not been my most productive quarter! My original list contained a mere 17 items, but apparently I need lists of far more in order to be productive! I have just three finishes - the final of which is this hoop. And I cannot beleive it is only now being added to the list of finishes!

I made this EPP block way back at the start of the year: it was a trial block for the Alexandria quilt designed by Jodie @talesofcloth. I trialled Zuma fabrics by Tula Pink and didn't feel it would work for the whole quilt, so I started again. But this little centre remained, unloved. I took about half an hour to applique it the background fabric, which is Tula Pink Designer Solids in Cajun. That was several months ago. And you know what, it took a whole 15 minutes to put it in a hoop and call it done!


Also finished this month was the moth pouch: I changed my plans a few times with this, but eventually decided that done was better than perfect, and I love the result! Mostly I wanted to showcase that fabulous moth fabric!


My only quilt finish of the quarter is Lisa the Unicorn.


What about the rest of my list? The round of cat blocks are now all quilted - I don't think it will take very long to make them into cushions... I just haven't done it yet!

My Fancy Forest has seen huge progress! I've made owls and hedgehogs and prepared fireflies and thistles - there's a real chance this will be finished by the end of the year...


I've sourced a backing for my crumb block quilt: my Mum still had my duvet cover from when I was little. I have de-frilled it, but not actually basted it yet. I've made a few more penguins and added some stitches here and there to other projects, but you'll see them all again next quarter I'm afraid!

Three finishes is better than none! I suppose the question is, how many new off-list things did you start in Q3 and how many were and weren't finished?! (Not sure I want to know the answer..!)

365 Quilt Challenge 2016 [A finish]

I can't believe I've just typed that heading! When I made the block for January 1st 2016 I could not have imagined the journey this quilt would have taken me on. Tula Nova [A Finish]

I can't believe it's been nearly two years since an epic day out in Huddersfield with the amazing Tula Pink. That day at Simply Solids was pretty close to the best day ever: a morning lecture by Tula where we got to see some of her quilts - and the amazing quilting by Angela Walters - and then an afternoon workshop with her starting work on the Tula Nova pattern. The centre that I made that day became a cushion, but I redid my centre and kept going with a rainbow or stars around it to create my final Tula Nova. All of the print fabrics are Tula All Stars with Pompoms and Stripes. The solids are all Kona. This was my first real time working with Tula Pink fabrics. I'd long been a fan of her patterns, but not her fabric. After this day I was a convert. We won't discuss how much Tula fabric I now have, nor how many of my current WIPs are Tula WIPs! All the Little Finishes

 I've had a few recent finishes - mostly smaller pieces and mostly not on my list to finish this year (because I've only just started them!) - lots and lots of pouches! Here's a round up... Three pouches I made for the kids for our holiday - all are the Seamingly Sane Pouch pattern, but I used the pattern add-on to adjust the sizes and customised with some straps and in one case, a pocket. These three pouches are made for our work Yubikeys when we travel to protect them - it's a slightly adjusted Aneela Hooey pattern - the peas are an inside joke! I knew I had pea fabric for a reason! A couple more Seamingly Sane pouches - the smaller one was a birthday present for my Dad, and the floral one was for me to protect my diary when I travel. Seven pouches made entirely from my scraps to hold EPP pieces pre sewing! This is the Peekapouch pattern by Sweet Cinnamon Roses. This is the Not So Little Zippy Pouch by Fabric and Flowers.
