It has been a busy week: after the wedding, we spent Sunday marshalling at a classic car rally in and around Berwick/Dunbar - the Berwick Classic. Next year we hope to be taking part in a Midget, that my Father-in-law use to own and my Dad has restored. If this kind of thing floats your boat, you can see some photos on my Dad's blog! On Monday, Mum and Dad went back home, then Tuesday and Wednesday we had roofers in re-felting the flat roof - the dogs' room is finally water tight again! Some good friends from my neck of the woods visited us on Wednesday evening, Thursday evening we had tickets to the theatre to see Dara O'Briain (Irish comedian) - I haven't laughed so much in ages. And yesterday Archie had to go back to the vets because he STILL has an ear infection. And it's been a busy week at work, so sewing took a bit of back seat. But I'm back!
After we'd got back from the vets the sewing machine came out and balance was restored to the universe! Since then I have added wide black borders to my neon stained quilt. I was hoping to get on and quilt it, but I want to back it with Kona black and my LQS needs to order some more in. So that finish will be pushed back a few weeks. But I did get a lovely variegated thread for the quilting when I do get there.
Today I finished piecing the centre of the Amelia quilt.
It still needs wide pink borders, but I've bought the wadding and this backing,
and a variegated pink thread to quilt it. This is one of the quilts I want to finish this quarter for the Finish Along, and it is the only one where I'm making any progress. Once finished, this one is heading off to Siblings Together.
And I've just finished making the May blocks for stash bee. These blocks challenged my stash a bit.
Lynn asked for star blocks with black, red and off white. But no solids. Hmmmm. It turns out I like my black solid. Or mixed with white white! Off white was also quite a challenge. So the blacks have white in and the off-white are quite beige-y. I hope Lynn can use them!
I have just finished catching up on my blog reading and come across this
