I've been working on my item for the Modern She Made swap this week. By Sunday night I had made really good progress on the main part of the sewing machine cover, but this week has been about the embroidery panel, and I've really enjoyed sitting in front of the telly with a little hand sewing.
This is the finished panel and the work for the weekend is to finish off the whole piece, but I couldn't resist sharing the embroidery with you today. The design is my own, and I know I should be more modest, but I am really pleased with how it's turned out.
Most of the design is in backstitch, with a fair amount of satin stitch. I knew fairly early on that I only wanted to use one coour thread, so I've also used chain stitch, lazy daisy stitch and french knots to create variety and I used one and two strands of DMC stranded cotton to add texture.
I do love orange at the moment - I just hope my partner does too!
