Fresh Sewing Day [July and August]

It's been a busy couple of months with one thing and another... so busy that I didn't get to link up at the end of July, so this is a double round up.

A lot of my sewing hours in the last two months have gone on my City Sample quilt which is just totally addictive! I have rushed ahead and I'm up to block 55 - I just need to find time and opportunity to lay them all out together - for the meantime a mosaic will have to suffice....

There are 56 blocks here - one is a reject!
I am absolutely loving rummaging through my stash. I have just one rule - no two fabrics from the same line in the same block (I've broken it once, with good reason). However, this process has highlighted some of the holes in my stash: purples, fussy-cutable fabric and solids. We went to the quilt show at Harrogate yesterday and I worked hard to fill some of those gaps! I also fell totally in love with Tula's fabrics - Acacia is to die for!

I made a few other blocks too: another Lucky Stars block, another Rock and Romance Fireworks block and a few more Dear Jane blocks.



I am way behind on my bee block commitments.... thank you everyone for your patience....

And my biggest WIP (just in case you've missed it in my last few posts)....
According to my delightful consultant, I am well-padded
 (hence the less than clear scan).
....if anyone else tells me that the second trimester is wonderful and you will feel amazing, I will throw something at them. It's all lies! But I do seem to have a little more energy at least!

Wow! This post shows a ton of progress, both in quilting and gestation. I was always well-padded too. It keeps the baby protected. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Wow you have been busy, glad that baby is well even if you're not having the time of your life! I think most of us have a purple deficit in our stash I certainly do.

Lots of productivity! I'm another with a purple deficit in my stash. There is only a few lines every year that feature decent purples and of course not everyone stocks them so it's not easy to get your hands on some!

I love all your blocks and I hope that cooking that baby gets a bit easier for you. The thing is that you get a cute baby at the end so it is worth it.

Sweet Serenade Pincushions

This week has been about preparation, rather than sewing. I'm still hoping to meet my deadline of a full sized quilt by mid July - it's for friends that we don't see often - by which I mean, once a year, and that once a year is coming up quickly. I'm using Sweet Serenade by Basic Grey for Moda, which was released a few years ago now. I confess when I first bought it, I didn't have a plan for it, I just knew I liked it. But I also knew that it wasn't really my normal fabric choice. It was fabric I would enjoy sewing with, but perhaps not the end result so much. Then I realised it's colour scheme was perfect for these friends. I've spent this week cutting out all the pieces for the remaining 20 blocks. Meet Mia

***warning - lots of photos*** It is the first of March and therefore time for a review of what I achieved in February. There was some sewing for the first 23 days - I finished the quilt for Baby I made progress on the quilt for a friend's Baby and I finished my Thread Along Quilt  top I made some Dear Jane blocks (you can see them here , here and here ) and some Farmer's Wife Blocks And then on 24th February I went into labour and 12 hours later at 11.26pm we welcomed Amelia Lily to the world. Mia for short, weighed 9lbs 1 oz (4110g). We came home on Thursday after a few days in hospital and now we are juggling feeds, nappies and sleeps. Three hours old I love how suspicious she looks in this picture... We had a very handmade home coming with a knitted cardi and blankie from Grandma - my name was mud as the blanket was over 230 rows each with over 230 stitches plus a border....
