Well I've reviewed 2016, which in a nutshell, was a lovely year for our family and a productive year for my sewing. We'll ignore politics. You can read my review posts here, about my family; here for my block marathon, and here for my finishes. It's now time to look forward. What are my plans and hopes for 2017.
Firstly, I just had to share this video from the other day! Looking forward to more of these fruitcakes in the year ahead!
Well, the year starts with a new routine as I go back to work - a new job, after my maternity leave. That will inevitably mean less sewing time, but my first promise of the new year is to still make time to sew every day - I find that I get grumpier on days with no sewing. I also know that when it gets to the evening I'm more inclined to do some hand sewing, rather than sit at the machine. With that in mind, I have signed up for two BOM programmes: I'm going to get back to the Dear Jane Quilt I started back in 2013, this time EPP style. I've signed up to receive a row's worth of paper pieces each month and I'm itching for my first package to arrive later this week. The programme is being run by Paper Pieces in the US, but if you're in the UK and fancy joining in, then Simply Solids is also offering it.
And the second new project is "Down the Rabbit Hole by Sarah Fielke. The first installment doesn't arrive until the end of January, but the background fabric is ordered!
All that being said, I still have loads of plans for my sewing machine. I have a fair few quilts to finish up from last year, and the year before... I'm planning on playing along with the APQ Resolutions - one unloved project per month to focus on. More on that soon. And of course, the Finish Along really helps me focus! There are a fair few babies due to friends and family this year so watch this space for baby quilts galore. This one is half-way there, but the baby is imminent!
Then there are the temptations thrown in my path. Like the Quilters Planner 52 blocks - just waiting for my copy to arrive from the States; or the Honey Pot Bee - I'll join in when I love the blocks, I think. And of course, any new sew-alongs that may happen to appeal. Unlikely, I know.
Mostly, I'm looking forward to watching my girls grow, spending time with my husband, and sewing. A fair amount of sewing!
